1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 can (about 15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup dried lentils, rinsed and sorted
1 cup vegetable broth
Hamburger buns, toasted
Optional toppings:
avocado slices
onion slices
pickles
Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and bell pepper; cook and stir 5 minutes or until onion is softened. Add sugar, chili powder, salt, garlic powder and onion powder; cook and stir 30 seconds. Stir in tomato sauce, lentils and broth; bring to a boil.
2. Reduce heat to low; simmer 30 to 40 minutes or until lentils are tender. Serve on buns with desired toppings.
